Quarter Evaluation
This quarter I think I have done swell job on completing my quarter goals. I have completed my patron, organization, and personal goals that I set at the beginning of the quarter. My patron assistance goal was to ask if a patron needed help with anything as soon as the walked through the door and to suggest books. I have asked the patrons if they needed help when they walk in and have learned that not only does it help the patron but it helps the library run more smoothly as well. Suggesting books is sort of hard, and easier if you know the patron personally. My library organization goal was to shelf read more often. I did this and realized that it is very important to shelf read so each book is in its home. My personal goal was to stay focused and ask questions. At the beginning I had trouble staying focused but I now know what I need to do so I can stay focused over an extended amount of time. I hope to improve on this goal even more next quarter. Asking questions was easy and effective. I got more done in a better and more efficient way. I had lots of fun this quarter with my fellow SLAs and can't wait to start next quarter.
My Quarter Evaluation...
This Quarter I improved the following skills:
- working at the circulation desk and doing accurate and independent work
- helping patrons to the best of my ability
- working technology properly, copy machine, printer, computers...etc
- listening to directions and working hard
- Shelving books more quickly (making sure they're accurate and fixing shelves while I'm at it...)
- Placing holds quickly, correctly, and efficiently
- Making sure the library is running smoothly, orderly, and is clean and organized ( to the best of my ability :)S)?
Sarah's Window Display!
My window display theme is about Spring and what events happen during it's season; such as, sports, planting, flowers, spring break, sunshine, and animals.
It will have drawings of flowers, sports utensils, suns..etc...It will have a slogan/ attention getter line that says something like; "Spring is in!", "Spring break is here!", or "spring is calling..."
something that prompts the spring season
Some books that will be included are, books about plants and animals, spring drawing books?, sports events and spring sports books....nonfiction and fiction will be included...Everything in this display will say something about the above...
These are just rough ideas on what I have in mind....I'm sure it will look great...Hope you like it! :D

Quarter Evaluation
This quarter in the library I feel like I have gotten much better at a wide variety of things. I definitely know more about where books are shelved, and though I am not very quick at shelving things, there have been days where Maddie, Anna, and I were able to check-in and shelve every book in need of it. I also feel like I have gotten quicker at cleaning things up in the library. When I walk in it only takes me about ten minutes to push in the chairs, take care of my problem area, and any other shelves that are totally out of order. Overall, I feel pretty confident in everything but shelving reference books. I still need to work on those for sure.

Quarterly Evaluation #1
This Quarter I have gotten more comfortable with finding my way around the library. At first I didn't know where to shelve the biographies and the reference books, but now I have a better understanding of where these things are. I also have started becoming more familiar with the check in/out process. I've also gotten better at setting up for B.O.B. battles and regular doing my regular jobs. I think I've done pretty well for this Quarter and I've loved being a S.L.A.

Quarter Project
Our quarter is one week shorter, so it is time to work on your final project. Coming up in the next two weeks, concentrate on these three tasks:
1. Using the photos that you have taken with the ipad, you will create a slideshow demonstrating your learning and your accomplishments. Use the "Explain Everything" app on the iPad, iMovie, animoto.com, photopeach.com, or another application of your choosing. Your slideshow should include images and text captions and/or voice-over narration.
2. Plan and create another window display. Be sure to fill out the form on the blog about the theme and titles.
3. Quarter evaluations on your blog day during the final week.

Skills and Growth - LeGrand Jones II
Some accomplishments I have made are:
- Being able to hang a book in a window display.
- being more affective at using blogger.
- and learning about ways the library works that I didn't know before,
- Learning more about the aspects of the library that aren't just books, including, but not limited to using the copier.
- Shelving non-fiction books, I feel that I just need to practice because normally I don't shelve non-fiction.
Quarter achevements/improvements
This half of the quarter I found out that there are several things that I am good at, and also several things that I need to work on. Some skills that I feel like I now have include organizing my problem area, shelf reading, and just cleaning up the library in general. My problem area is the blue and green dots, and most day s when I come in they are a mess. I've gotten pretty quick about straightening it up and putting the books back in order. I also like shelf-reading now. Non-fiction is my favorite, but I think I do a pretty god job in both fiction and non-fiction. As for cleaning up the library, when I come in I always make sure that I take out the recycle if its full and push in all the chairs.
This second half of the quarter I hope to get better at shelving, keeping my blog up to date, and checking in and out books. As I figured out in my shelving test, I'm pretty slow and only 80% accurate. I really need to fix that if I want to shelve any more books. Also with my blog, I never seem to be able to get them done on my blog days. Whether its tracing the Lorax or the power is out, I just can't seem to get my blogs done. But lastly I need to get better at circulation. I have yet to check in or out a book to someone. So actually I'm not even sure that i can, but I think i know what to do.

I'm currently reading If a Tree Falls at Lunch Period by Gennifer Choldenko. It's one of the battle books, and although I've already read it, I'm reading it again to make sure that I understand it. This is one of those books that you definitely have to read more than once to understand the whole thing. Since this is the second time I've read this, I've realized that almost everything that happens in the book foreshadows some later event. I'm really enjoying the feeling that I understand why things are happening, not just wondering why that ended up like it did and how did that character do that, anyways? So if you are in the battle, and even if you aren't you definitely have to read this book. I might even read it a third time once battle season id over so I can see what I missed the second time!

My New Skills/Areas That Need Training
New skills that I have learned:
- Learning how to put books on hold
- Learning how to check out a book when I only have the barcode
- Getting faster on my problem spot
- Learning how to repair books and magazines
- Writing backwards on my window!
- Faster at shelving-sometimes when I'm shelving I see a book that looks interesting and get distracted
Accomplishments and Improvments.
A skill I have mastered is to ask questions. I am more clear on what I am supposed to do. Another skill I have mastered is shelf reading. I do it whenever I have even just a little of spare time. I try to check my problem spot daily. I know I need improvement on on staying focused. I have not staying focused and I find myself goofing around with Madi and Maddie a lot. I know I will have to stop so all of us can get our work done quickly and correctly. Another thing I need to work on is communicating more with patrons. I already talk a lot, so I don't know why this is so hard for me. Hopefully I can improve all these abilities by the end of the quarter.

Book review/Works Cited
Book Review:
Recently, I read Book of a Thousand Days by Shannon Hale. This book is about a girl named Dashti, whose mother recently passed away. She searches to find work and ends up as a ladie's maid for Lady Saren. Dashti swears her loyalty to Saren and ends up being locked away in a tower with her, because of Saren's prior betrothal decisions. When rats start diminishing the seven year food supply, they will have to figure a way out. But with no widows, brick walls, and only a small food slot... how will they escape?

Week 4
This is the first full week that we have had in a while. Last week with snow, Dr. Seuss Day, and no school on Friday, we didn't have a chance to go in-depth on circulation. It is super important that everyone is rock-solid on circulation, so we will continue to focus on that this week in addition to shelf reading.
Please remember that your class period should be made up of several different tasks. Begin your time by doing a problem check - chairs, messy shelves, garbage on the floor, stray books on tables or countertops. Next, shelve the books from the shelving cart for 10-15 minutes. Finally, work for about 20 minutes on your daily assignment.
This week for your blog time, please use the library catalog to create a resource list and to write a book review of something that you have recently read. You will need to log in to your library account to do each of those. Create a resource list of the books that you are including in your window display. Print it out as a "Works Cited" list and turn it in to me. Also, write a thoughtful and correct book review of at least five sentences. Do you summarize or spoil the book; instead, include your opinion with details or examples as support.
Don't forget to use the iPad to document your work!
