Haley's Q4 Goals

This quarter I would like to learn how to repair books. I think I could get help from Mrs.Trumm. Maybe we could do it during mmstime one week. I think i need to work on creating displays. I think I could get help with this from either of you. I think I need to participate in more library programs. I think I could do this by asking about any upcoming events.

4th quarter goals- roman

This quarter I would to learn how to repair books and how the process works. To do this I need help from Mrs.Trumm because she know to do it. Maybe we could set up a time during the week?
For patron assistance I would like to help students find popular books easily. Books such as the Twilight series or the Maximum Ride books.
I plan to attend the Barnes & Noble book fair so that I continue to improve on my reading aloud to the children for I am not very fluent at it.

Q4 Week 2 - respond to others' goals

This week read the goals that the other SLA's have set. Respond with a comment to at least three other students. Include the following types of information:

1. Does the goal make sense in the way that it is written? Are there ways to make it clearer or more measurable?
2. What information, advice, or help can you provide to the person who has set this goal?
3. How might this person measure their progress in achieving this goal?
4. Other thoughts or feedback.

Your comments should be thoughtful and well-written, using correct capitalization, spelling, and grammar.

Write a comment on your own goal that tells me to which SLA's you commented.

Sarah's Q4 Goals

Sarah's 4th Quarter Goals;

  1. For library organization, I would like to master the process of placing holds. Claire and I did not have a chance to place any holds in 3rd quarter, so I would like to be able to place at least one hold this quarter.
  2. For patron assistance; one of my goals is to put a couple displays together in 4th quarter, along with assisting and communication with patrons more.
  3. For my own personal goal, being apart of library programs, like B.O.B (Battle of the Books) would be my priority for next year.
You and Ms. Trumm can help me by giving me projects or fun displays to work on over the course of the year.

4th Quarter Goals-Anna

I have many goals for this quarter having to do with Library Circulation, but I would most want to improve on placing holds. I was told how to do it, but I have never done it for real.
I love helping patrons. I think its a great way to learn what other people in Marshall are reading. This quarter I hope to improve recommendations based on what they have checked out. I have read tons of books and I think I have the same taste as others.
For my personal library goal, I want to be more informed of other library event either at our school or other libraries. This way I would be more informed about how our library works versus how others work.

Claire Q4 - MMS SLA goals

My goal for Library organization/circulation goals is to learn how to repair books so I can save Ms. Merrigan and Ms. Trumm time so they won't have to. I've never done it before but I'm willing to try.
For Patron assistance I am want to create displays because they help patrons know whats going on in the library and what new or really good books are. It will also help me so I know whats going on too.
Last but not least is my personal library goal. I want to shelve the books without Ms. Trumm or Ms. Merrigan checking them because not only will it save them time, I will know there in the right spot so patrons won't be confused where a certain book is.

-Claire

Q4 Week 1 - Set three goals for the quarter

In a new post, not a comment, please write about three goals for your work in the library this quarter. Include ideas for how you will achieve your goals, how we can help you, and how you will know when you have achieved your goals (what will you be able to do and how will you prove it?) Your goals should be in three areas:

1. Library organization/circulation goals - Examples include, but are not limited to, improving shelving skills, mastering how to place holds, learning to repair books, creating and following a cleaning/organizing schedule for a particular area in the library.

2. Patron assistance - Examples include, but are not limited to, creating reading lists on a particular topic or genre, creating displays, teaching a skill to patrons, improving your communication skills with patrons.

3. Personal library goal - Examples include, but are not limited to, learning how to use a particular database or technology tool, reading in a certain area/topic, visiting other libraries to learn how they are organized, attending or participating in library programs.

Elissa's Goals for Quarter Four

Here are my goals for the fourth quarter:
patron assistance: help library patrons more(not just scanning the bar code and them leaving). I could do this by just trying harder when checking books out.

Research skills: use a brooder variety of search methods when researching a topic. I could try and improve this while researching for the 8th grade project.

SLA skills: Get quicker at reading shelves for order. I could do this by practicing more. I could tell if I improved when we have to read for order before inventory.

End of Quarter reflection

As Quarter 3 comes to a close, reflect back on your learning and involvement in the library. In a comment below, please address the following:

1. In what area do you think you made the most growth? Explain.
2. In what area would you like to focus your learning next quarter? Explain.
3. What was your favorite part of being an SLA? Least favorite?
4. What ideas do you have for your work as a student library assistant and/or the library program that we might consider?

We will sit down to do your quarter-end evaluation on Friday.

Future events:
1. Barnes and Noble Book Fair, April 30. I would like all SLA's to attend and help with the book fair on Saturday, April 30, from 1:00-2:00. ASB and SLA students will be helping with a storytime and craft project. Please talk to your parents and get that on the calendar. Let me know if you will or will not be able to attend.
2. 8th graders, you are required to attend Data & Desserts at CHS library on Thursday, May 26, in the evening (7-ish). Please get this on your calendar now.

Quarter 4! Summer is nigh.
