Q$ Week 2 Assignment

1. BibMe - Don't forget about this! By quarter end you should have at least four entries. Each entry should include a short summary, supported opinion, reader recommendation.
2. Webspiration - I have shared with you a brainstorming web. Think about different topics and tasks that you could teach others (SLA's or patrons) to do. For example: logging in to your library account, placing holds, creating a resource list, saving to your folder. The teaching method could be a help sheet, a screencast, a handbook, etc. Add at least three new ideas to the brainstorm. Sign your name to your ideas.
3. Go to jingproject.com. Set up an account for yourself or use the marshallmiddleschoollibrary@gmail.com account. Download the application and play with it. Get to know how it works. Plan on using the same computer each time, so you don't have to download it repeatedly.
4. SLA monthly meeting on Friday, 12-1:00. Bring your lunch and we'll bring dessert. Bring a printout of your reading log.

Welcome to Quarter 4!

All of you are now seasoned SLA's and I'm so pleased to have you as part of the team. All of you bring skills and personality traits that add to our program. A big THANK YOU to each and every one of you.

New quarter - time to set some goals! In the comments section below, you will add three goals in three areas. For each goal, write two actions that you will take to work towards your goal. The three areas are:

1. Patron assistance
2. Library skills/organization
3. Technology skills

Please be specific about what you want to achieve and how you will get there. See me if you need some ideas.

Week 9 - Assignments

Welcome back from Spring Break! I hope you had a great time and are ready for the final spring push.

Can you believe we are in the last week of third quarter? This week we will be reading your assigned shelves and meeting with you for your quarter end evaluation. During your evaluation meeting we will discuss your quarter goals, your performance and achievements, your grade and report card comments, and your goals for 4th quarter. To prepare, please write about the following in the comments section of this blog:

1. Look back at your goals from the beginning of the quarter (on blog). What were they? Did you achieve them? Describe.
2. Reflect on your achievements this quarter. Write about your performance in these three areas: (a) Patron assistance (b) Library organization/administration (c) Information literacy skills. You might include stories about specific times when you really shone in these areas.
3. Look forward to your goals and plans for next quarter. The focus will be teaching others through handbook, technology, mentoring your SLA and library skills. What ideas do you have for 4th quarter goals?
