3. Tips for Future SLA's: SHELVING

Record below any advice you have for future SLA's regarding shelving in the library.

  1. If something is out of place and you catch it while your putting another book away fix it then, it will save a ton of time in the long run.

  2. Be sure that when your daily assignment is shelve reading, spend some time on every shelve in every category because it will help a lot in the future. Don't rush!

  3. Don't rush when shelving or shelve reading, because you might put something away in the wrong place or miss something that is already out of place.

  4. If you're shelf reading, don't just look at the books to see if they are in order. It helps a LOT if you touch the books.

  5. when you are reading the shelve or shelving a book, if you find a shelf that is a disaster or not in neat form. straighten out! it save tons of time and tons of work for you and other.

  7. Take your time and DON'T rush when shelving books or shelve reading. It is better to make sure you have it right the first time than to have to make a mistake and have more than one thing go wrong.

  8. It helps to count and say your alphabet to yourself as you are shelving. Also don't feel bad if you have to say it out loud.
