The year is off and running and this is our first full week. Ms. Trumm and I have been busy bringing classes in through the library, and you five have already been a big help to us. I know sometimes it seems like we don't have time to explain exactly how the day will go or what we need you to do, and it is true! The library is a very busy place! Don't worry. We will continue to train you all semester. Don't be afraid to ask questions either.
Tasks for this week:
1. Continue to work on shelving. Read this document on shelving from the University of Ottawa library. Visit "Order in the Library 4.0" to play shelving games and improve your skills. Print out your certificate of achievement at the end of your playing time. You don't have to do all the levels at one time, but print your certificate at the end of your session.
2. Quarterly contract. I will meet with you this week to read and sign your contract. Please think about personal goals for yourself. Look at the goals that other SLA's set on this blog in February and April 2010 (see old posts on right side). You will record your goals as a comment on this blog.
3. Circulation desk. We will train you on check out and check in procedures.
Have fun!
