Q1 Penultimate week assignments - Nov 1-Nov 5

Wow, it's November already!  We have several things to finish up before the end of the quarter.  All of you have done a great job of jumping in with both feet to learn about the library, its organization, and how to help our patrons and each other.  Being a "teacher" and "adviser" is a big part of what we ask you to do.  Within the next two weeks, we will meet for your quarter-end evaluation.  In order to prepare for that meeting, please do the following:

1. Look back at your goals from the beginning of the quarter (on blog). What were they? Did you achieve them? Describe this process in a blog comment.
2. Reflect on your achievements this quarter. In a blog comment below, write about your performance in these three areas: (a) Patron assistance (b) Library organization/administration (c) Information literacy skills. You might include stories about specific times when you really shone in these areas.
3.  Log in to your library account.  Under Catalog, go to "Resource Lists."  Create a new resource list called Q1 Reading Record.  Look up the books that you have read from our library this quarter in the catalog and click "Add to this list."  After you have added all your books, go back to "Resource Lists."  Choose the option "email this list" and send it to me at smerrigan@osd.wednet.edu.  Good job!
4. Look forward to your goals and plans for next quarter. The focus will be the research process and research tools, while strengthening your SLA and library skills. What ideas do you have for 2nd quarter goals?

P.S. If you don't already know the meaning of "penultimate," look it up in a print dictionary and report in to me or Ms. Trumm.  :-)

  1. From Elissa:
i have accomplish my goals pretty well. I still screw up some but not as often on the copier but other than that i have accomplished my goals. it took some time to get fluent on the copy machine. my other two goals though were fairly quick to accomplish. i did very good in patron assistance. in the library organization area i did nicely. there were times when the shelving cart was completly full and i shelved almost the whole cart on my own i think that i could have done a little better in info literacy skills. i think that i didnt learn as much about the library and that kind of topic as i did in previous quarters.
