Quarer One Review

My Goals Were:
1.Learn where every type of book is shelved and how to shelve them.
2.Improve my ability to help patrons.
3.Improve my knowledge of the circulation desk.

I achieved my goals this quarter and am very happy with what I have learned. I now know where to shelve all kinds of books, even the ones in the office. I have been able to help patrons with more things as the quarter progresses. I have added many skills about the circulation desk to collection and now I can successfully accomplish the things I need to.

Patron Assistance:
I think I have been able to efficiently help the patrons who have come into the library this quarter. I have been able to answer questions and requests from patrons about the library. Also, I have asked questions when I needed to, and now have greatly increased my knowledge.

Library Organization/Administration:
I have been working really hard to keep the library in good shape this quarter. I was a little bit nervous with all the things that we were learning at the beginning of the year. Now I am able to keep the books neat without a problem.

Information Literacy Skills:
I am now fairly good at shelving books of all sorts. I understand that "nothing comes before something" when I am shelving nonfiction books. Also, I know that fiction books are shelved by the authors last name. I learned that if there are several books by the same author that you then move to alphabetizing by the title of the book. In addition, I learned why you might put the fifth book in the series before the first or second book in the series.

Possible Goals for Next Quarter:
1. Be more confident in the skills I have.
2. Increase my abilities to help patrons.
3. Start to be more independent.
4. Learn new information about research tools and the research process.
