We are off and running on the new quarter. This quarter we will concentrate on research skills and the library resources that can support you in your studies. I want you to continue to develop your library skills (circulation, organization, patron assistance), while becoming an expert in one or two databases. You will have a responsibility to teach that information, through a webcast, brochure, fact sheet, or live lesson. In order to work on research skills, we will do some research. We will focus the research on constitutional issues, thereby giving you some background for your CBA.
This week:
1. In a blog response, write about your SLA goals for the quarter. Take a look at your evaluation from last quarter to get some ideas. Set three goals for circulation, organization, and patron assistance in the library.
2. Read the two articles provided: "Judicial Review" and "The Struggle for Human Rights." These are your background articles for the research on constitutional issues. Keep these articles as we will annotate them on the blog next week!
I think that I have met my goals from last quarter. I havnt screwed up nearly as much on the copier machine. I have learned to cover the books. My goals though for this quarter are to try and be a little quieter, do more window displays and work on my research skills
ReplyDeleteI did pretty well in terms of meeting my goals in quarter 1. I need to work more on not getting distracted when I am doing something (e.g. reading a book that I'm supposed to be shelving). I have gotten much better at helping patrons, but I'm sill a little mystified about this whole 39 clues thing... Well, my goals for Second Quarter are to better help people when they need to locate something, get my tasks done without getting distracted, and be able tho shelve stuff in the office. And I would like to do more window displays, because I rather like those paint pen thingies.
ReplyDeleteKatherine's Goals:
ReplyDelete1.I would like to learn how to cover all kinds of books.
2.Be able to help patrons quicker and more efficiently.
3.Remember to stamp books and say something positive like - I hope you enjoy your book.
Jenessa's goals:
ReplyDelete1.I would like to better understand the library and where things are so that if someone asks me a question on where something is, I do not have to refer to Mrs. Merrigan or Mrs. Trumm.
2.I need to work on organizing/putting away non-fiction books so I can become more familiar with the dewey decimal system.
3.I would also like to better understand how to check in/out audiobooks/audio book supplies for patrons.
